Day four of our Slovakia location tour was a full day in the mountains and on the road. We began in Javorová dolina, beneath the peaks of the Belianske Tatras, then stopped at Hotel Montfort, a striking piece of modernist architecture with a history of its own. From there, we headed to Štrbské Pleso, high in the Tatras. The day brought together some of Slovakia’s most distinctive landscapes and historic places, including the Tatra Mountains, the Museum of Liptov Village in Pribylina and Orava Castle. We ended the day walking through the castle’s Gothic and Renaissance spaces, built into the rock above us. It was the kind of day that makes you want to stop the car every few minutes and take another photograph.
